Wonder Woman by paperfetish Wonder Woman by paperfetish
Wonder Woman done for a holiday gift exchange. My recipient loves Wonder Woman, so I made this piece as my gift. This pieces is about 8" x 11" and is made from Canson, Canford and tissue papers.

I fell in love with this image the first time I saw it. The original image was pencilled by Nicola Scott and colored by Jason Wright. I love the perspective of the piece and knew it would present some challenges, which it did. The biggest challenge was the construction of her torso and arms without adding extra cuts. I'm happy with the end result, but my favorite parts of the sculpture are the planes in her stomach and lower rib cage (which I'd love to say it was fully planned, but that wouldn't be true...) and the visual right corner of the column on which she is standing.

I also tried a couple of new techniques, specifically using tissue paper for the clouds and tearing it and the blue paper used to make the water in an attempt to soften the edges. I'm not fully confident of the execution of these techniques, but plan to explore them more in the future.

Hot damn! What I'd kill to get me something like this! As always you boggle my mind with the amount of detail going into your work. Gorgeous (and I'm not bias I swear, I mean I love me some Wonder Woman lol)

Thank you so much! You are always so good to me. I actually had to pull back on the detail a little...never said there wasn't something wrong with me...

Thank you! I had a busy year, which didn't allow as much time as I would have liked for art.

it's truly, truly awesome!!! the perspective is really great, the different layers and techniques are purely amazing... I love the effect on the top right of the column, too :) and the way the muscles show is really perfect!!!!

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the feedback. The background reads a little flat to me. I think it is because I intentionally left out some details so it didn't compete with the details of her body and costume.

I really appreciate the comments on her muscles. I was least confident on the color choices and some of the cuts.

I can understand why you weren't confident about this... it must be a difficult process, between your idea and how to make it look real on paper... but the result is really cool :)

Thank you! It can be difficult. There were some challenges with making her anatomy look realistic while allowing the paper to be cut so it could be properly shaped. Luckily, I was able to hide cuts in he seams between muscles to get an effect I like.

OMG, this is a lot of work, if the person who will receive it don't like it tell me and I'll punch him/her in the face.
