Wonder Woman done for a holiday gift exchange. My recipient loves Wonder Woman, so I made this piece as my gift. This pieces is about 8" x 11" and is made from Canson, Canford and tissue papers.
I fell in love with this image the first time I saw it. The original image was pencilled by Nicola Scott and colored by Jason Wright. I love the perspective of the piece and knew it would present some challenges, which it did. The biggest challenge was the construction of her torso and arms without adding extra cuts. I'm happy with the end result, but my favorite parts of the sculpture are the planes in her stomach and lower rib cage (which I'd love to say it was fully planned, but that wouldn't be true...) and the visual right corner of the column on which she is standing.
I also tried a couple of new techniques, specifically using tissue paper for the clouds and tearing it and the blue paper used to make the water in an attempt to soften the edges. I'm not fully confident of the execution of these techniques, but plan to explore them more in the future.
