Trippy Glass 'Vase'

Description

This is the second piece I made in my first glass class. It is a little more "sophisticated" (I use that term *very* loosely) because it was made with my professor, who is very hands on.

After we had the basic shape, we separated it from the first pipe to the second so I could open the top. My professor took it to the glory hole, the drop of water he used to make the separation shattered the bottom of the vase. We tried to repair the cracks and were partially successful, but not completely. He covered the holes with the little handles and we put it in the oven to anneal.

I love this piece. The handles are odd and the cracks go all the way through so it doesn't hold water, but I love the overall shape.

Interesting shape, the cute little hangles fit it nicely. I took a beginning class last year and my first piece bumped against the side of the furnace so the teacher made a handle for it too, heh. It was nothing as nice as this though.

And I'm starting an intermediate course in 8 days! *happy dance*
