Costa Rican Wedding

A paper sculpture of my one of my nephews and his beautiful wife dancing at their wedding, which took place in Costa Rica.  It was an amazing day, a trip of a lifetime and Costa Rica was so beautiful.  I made this as a gift for their first wedding anniversary; paper being the traditional first wedding anniversary gift.

The illustration on right was done by the very talented Drew Green.  Drew can be found on tumblr here: drew-green.tumblr.com/ This is the second time I've worked with Drew and it was an absolute pleasure.  He was flexible, open to collaboration, timely and reasonably priced.  I highly recommend his art and working with him.

This piece is fairly small, 4"x6". It is made from Canson, Canford and tissue papers.  It was great to work from Drew's illustration.  The piece was easy to construct and create depth. I've been trying different papers, like the tissue paper. 

I tried multiple techniques with the lower part of her dress. I wanted maintain the feel of Drew's interpretation of her dress while creating some volume.  I finally settled on multiple layers of tissue paper.  I am very happy with the results.
