Baseball Detail

The detail of the baseball portion of a larger piece that is in progress. The finished work will be made of 5 smaller sculptures including baskeball detail ([link]) and soccer detail ([link]) . This one presented some challenges due to the multiple planes and some of the subtleties in the hand. Overall, I'm happy with the end result. I'm not sure if it can be seen in the photo, but I really like the tendon in the wrist.

The mounting is temporary for this shot. I plan on making a few changes when it is permanently mounted so the fingers on the top of the ball are raised a little more off the background so they are in the correct plane.

This section measures approximately 4" tall and about 1.75" wide.
